Worship Service

Our Wednesday Night Services are based upon the XP3 Strategy. Click on the icon for more info concerning this strategy:

Worship is what our youth do the best.  We were created to worship.  Every week all the Middle and High School Youth come together and celebrate Christ in their own worship service.  It is in this environment that they serve each other, using the talents and gifts given to them to praise the Lord.  This is done through youth worship teams, the public reading of God’s Word, prayer, giving in an offering, and through the Preaching of God’s Word.  Other elements of our Youth Worship include games, video and drama all pointing to the message of the week.

Our Youth Worship service is weekly on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8:00 PM.

Youth Life Groups

Our Discipleship Strategy is through Student Life Bible Study. For more information reagrding this, please click the icon below:

Current Study - Student Life Bible Study: Linked.

Our youth Life Groups are an essential part of our Youth Discipleship.  It is here that we teach Middle and High School Youth about who God is and what the Bible teaches about how we can be more like Him.  We do this through connecting adult leaders with small groups of youth broken down by grade and gender.

Below is a list of the Life Groups that meet on a weekly basis:

Sundays @ 9:00 AM

All Youth (YAC Warehouse)

Sundays @ 10:30 AM

Middle School Girls (YAC Warehouse)

Middle School Guys (YAC Warehouse)

High School Girls (YAC Warehouse)

High School Guys (YAC Warehouse)

Retreats/Camps

Every year, ONE80 plans getaways for youth.  These retreats and camps create opportunities for the youth to open up to our leaders and to each other about life and its challenges, then our leaders steer them toward Biblical Truths.  It is an opportunity to take them away from their “normal” routine in life, to listen to the Lord (Proverbs 8:32-35).

Generally we plan 3 to 4 of these retreats/camps per year:

Spring – Disciple Now

Click on the logo to download our Current 2012 Pure Life Retreat Brochure

This is an inexpensive ($25 - $35), at-home weekend retreat where the youth are divided up by gender and grade into area homes of youth leaders and members.  Each home has its own adult guide to take the youth through a weekend study. They are dropped off in homes on Friday Night, come together for lunch, games, dinner and an all-out Worship Service on Saturday night, then come back to the church for breakfast and Worship on Sunday morning.

Summer Camp(s) This year's is May 28-June 1

The first week that school is out each year, we take the Middle and High School youth for 5 days to spend a week of their summer focused on the Lord.  We have been to the beach as well as the mountains, and both are equally effective in changing hearts and lives.  It is not the location, but what happens there that the youth remember.  Each year, lives are changed forever!

The summer camp is by far our most expensive event of the year ($250 - $350).  We help families pay for the camp through a Discount Card Fundraiser that we put together.  We contact the vendors and create the cards in-house, allowing the youth to sell the much-desired cards for $10 Each (March – May). This means, if the camp cost is $300, all they have to sell is 30 cards and their camp is free!

Fall Retreat

Our annual Fall Retreat is usually scheduled the first weekend the youth go back to school.  It is held at a local retreat center in Covington filled with all kids of fun activities…the FFA/FCCLA Camp (georgiaffacamp.org).  It is during this retreat that we re-focus the youth to spend time with God, and reach-out to their lost friends in their schools and families and neighborhoods.  The cost of this retreat ($75 - $120) can also be funded through the sale of Discount Cards.

Winter Retreat

The Winter Retreat is a time for youth to get together and spend some time in prayer.

252 KIDS!

252Kids!  Exists to lead kids to discover and embrace a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

252 KIDS! is the Children's Ministry of CrossRoads Baptist Church for grades Kindergarten through 5th grade. Through our weekly programs and partnership with parents, our goal is for every kid to know and understand these three principles of becoming a disciple:

Luke 2:52, “And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man.”

Monthly Virtue

What is a Virtue?

Basically, a virtue is something God does in us to show us the character of God and to change the world around us. As others notice the virtue being lived out in our lives, they will see our Heavenly Father.

This month’s virtue is Honor: Letting someone know you see how valuable they really are

Memory Verse: Romans 12:10

Parents

Welcome Parents!

Thank you for allowing us to teach your child! I am excited about how God is continuously growing kids at CrossRoads to be disciples of Jesus Christ. Our goal is: “to lead to kids to discover and embrace a growing relationship with Jesus Christ”.  For this to happen, it takes a partnership between parents and the Church.  Our weekly programs are designed for you to be able to go home and continue to teach your children. I believe that it is important for the parent to become actively involved in teaching their children the ways of the Lord on a daily basis. Imagine the impact we could have on the next generation, if the same thing they learned on Wednesday night and Sunday morning was the same thing you were teaching them everyday! This is the kind of family environment we are seeking to create.

Psalm 78: 2-4 says, “I will declare wise sayings; I will speak mysteries from the past – things we have heard and known and that our fathers have passed down to us. We must not hide them from their children, but must tell a future generation the praises of the Lord, His might, and the wonderful works He has performed.”

I look forward to partnering with you and watching your child grow into a disciple of the Lord.

For His Glory!  John Thornton, Jr., Children’s Pastor

252 Kids! Sundays

Every Sunday morning kids will learn about a story or lesson that comes from the Bible. This Bible story will teach kids about our monthly virtue.

Each week, kids should go home with 2 things:

1.      God time card – this helps kids spend time with God everyday.

2.      Parent cue card – this tells the parents what their child learned at 252Kids!

Sunday Morning Schedule

9 am– Check –in. Parents must check-in their children in the YAC (Youth and Children) building.

9:15 am– 252 Story begins. This is a video segment that introduces the Bible story for the day in a unique way.

9:30 am– Kids are dismissed to their life groups. During this time kids will understand how the day’s Bible Story and virtue applies to them. They’ll discuss real-life experiences, interact with a close-knit group of peers, and participate in a variety of activities that appeal to different learning styles. Life-application and memory-verse activities, as well as prayer, are always a part of this hands-on time.

10:30 am– 252Kids! begins. 252Kids! is a worship service designed specifically for kids. During this time, kids will again be taught the Bible story in a variety of ways such as: singing songs to the Lord, live skits, creative videos and through a message given by our Children’s Pastor, all in a setting of a kids clubhouse. Parents are always welcome to attend.

12 pm- Dismiss. All kids must be picked up by their parent.

AWANA

 Wednesday Nights @ 6:30pm

AWANA is designed to help kids memorize God’s word in a fun and exciting way. Every week kids memorize verses at home from a handbook and have the opportunity to recite those Bible verses during AWANA to earn points and prizes.  Kids have the chance to earn points in a variety of ways (see below). At the end of each semester (December and May), kids can cash-in their points at the AWANA store.

How can I earn points?

1. Attendance on Wednesday Nights

2. Attend 252 Kids on Sunday Mornings

3. Bring your dues ($0.50 a week)

4. Wear your uniform (shirt and tennis shoes – no flip flops)

5. Bring your Bible

6. Bring your handbook

Sunday Morning Schedule

MAKE IT FUN - 15 minutes - 9 to 9:15 & 10:30 to 10:45

Each teaching lesson begins with activities that are fun and welcoming. These activities are designed to make the children feel drawn into the classroom.

MAKE IT TRUE- 25 minutes - 9:15 to 9:40 & 10:45 to 11:10

After a fun time with classroom friends, children are led to a large group time for the Bible story and worship. This is when children get to hear the truth of God’s Word and rejoice through worship.

Break Time- 10 minutes - 9:40 to 9:50 & 11:10 to 11:20

This is “potty” time. During this time kids will return to their classrooms and will be provided with a snack. Our standard snack is goldfish. If this changes, allergy alert signs will be posted.

MAKE IT STICK– 20 minutes - 9:50 to 10:10 & 11:20 to 11:40

Children will participate in a variety of activities that will help them apply what they have learned. These activities may be crafts, games, or even yummy snacks. Each activity reinforces that month’s Bottom Line in a fun and interactive way. Throughout this time of the lesson the Bottom Line is repeated to be sure each child knows the truth of God’s love.

MAKE IT REAL– 10 minutes - 10:10 to 10:20 & 11:40 to 11:50

This is a small group time where kids can personalize the lesson and have a time for prayer.

PARENT CUE– Available weekly

This provides a way for the parent and child to interact about what was learned at church. What happens at home is more important than what happens at church.
